A precursor to the Mars advanced research bases built by Weyland Yutani, in present day the top governments of the world have traveled to one of the most arid deserts in the world to build the first space city in Gobi desert for the purpose of doing fundamental research in the fields of rocketry, artificial gravity, elemental synthesis, high energy matter and terraforming. This base would allow us to go to space in the future and the desert like locations will give us everything that is needed to travel and live in highly hostile to life environments, like space and planets.
